Acer Swift 3 OLED, Acer Spin 3, and Acer Spin 5: OLED Screen and Convertible Formats with 12th Gen Processors

Acer has just unveiled its new range of Acer Swift notebooks, historically intended for hybrid work thanks to its convertible format. The access model to the range is the Acer Swift 3, which in addition to receiving the new features of the other versions that make up the Swift series, has an OLED screen to meet the needs of professionals and content creators. It does so together with the new Acer Spin 3 and 5, which we will talk about later.

14 Inches in a Convertible Design with A High-flying OLED Display

The new Acer Swift 3 OLED debuts in a lightweight aluminum chassis just 1.79 centimeters thick and 1.4 kilograms. Its 14-inch OLED display features a resolution close to 2.8K (WQXGA+, to be exact) in 16:10 format and a screen-to-body ratio of no less than 92%.

Turning to the panel features, the display is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified, with 100% coverage in the DCI-P3 color gamut ideal for designers, video editors, and content creators in general. It also has a backlit keyboard with an air-circulation design that expels up to 10% more heat than a conventional keyboard, as well as a webcam with Full HD resolution and Temporal Noise Reduction technology, which allows us to obtain high-quality video even in poor lighting conditions.

As a curiosity, the laptop incorporates a touchpad called OceanGlass that has been manufactured from plastic waste from the ocean. The brand claims that its scrolling sensation is similar to that of glass.

Intel Evo Certification and 12th Gen Intel Processors

The Acer Swift 3 OLED features the latest from Intel with the American firm’s twelfth series of processors. The company has not specified the processor models available, but it is known that they will belong to the H family, which has historically been intended to offer higher performance. In the graphics section, Acer is betting on integrated graphics cards from Intel, the Iris Xe. Completing the spec sheet are different options of fourth-generation PCIe SSD hard drives and RAM configurations of up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 type.

On the connectivity front, the laptop is equipped with an Intel WiFi module that supports WiFi 6E networks, although the brand has not specified the list of physical connections. With Evo certification, its battery life is capable of up to 10 hours. If we make use of fast charging, we can get an autonomy of four hours in just 30 minutes.

Acer Spin 3 and Spin 5: Laptops that Completes the Acer Convertible Series

Acer Spin 5

Acer’s bet on convertibles is not limited to the Acer Swift 3 OLED. On the one hand, the Acer Spin 3 bets on a design similar to the reference model, with a 14-inch touchscreen compatible with the company’s own Acer Active Stylus for design tasks, a pen with Wacom AES 2.0 technology that guarantees millimeter precision of 4,096 pressure levels to improve accuracy and control of the pointer. The most important difference concerning the latter is found in the screen occupancy rate, which reaches 86%, and the resolution of the webcam, which in this case is limited to 720 lines despite having the same image enhancement system.

If we focus on its technical specifications, the laptop replicates the specifications of its counterpart, such as 12th generation Intel Core processors, Intel Iris Xe graphics cards, and 4th generation PCIe SSD hard disks. Likewise, its battery offers an autonomy of 4 hours with a charge of just 30 minutes, while the connectivity section is commanded by two Thunderbolt 4 connections and a WiFi module compatible with sixth-generation networks.

As for the Acer Spin 5, its bet is mainly focused on the design, with only 1.3 kilograms of weight and 1.69 centimeters thick. Its display, of the same size and resolution as that of the Acer Swift 3 OLED, is TÃœV certified for low blue light and has a screen-to-body ratio of 88%. The laptop’s technical specifications are once again driven by 12th generation Intel processors based on Intel Core i7 versions, with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1 TB of SSD PCle Gen. 4 storage. It also incorporates a more complete network module than previous models, the famous Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675i.

Otherwise, the notebook is equipped with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, as well as DTS certification to ensure a certain quality in video calls. On the other hand, the metal chassis is designed with what Acer has called Vortex FLow architecture, which improves its performance by up to 75% thanks to the installation of two D6 copper heat pipes.
