One of the criticisms we can make of Chromebooks is that they usually don’t offer a lot of power. Fortunately, not all models are the same. Today, the new ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5400 has been presented, a convertible with Chrome OS that incorporates an Intel Core i7 processor along with 16 GB of RAM and a 14-inch touchscreen.
These are the features of the Flip CX5400, one of the examples that Chrome OS-based devices can also aspire to convince users who require more power.

A Chromebook designed for gaming?
Inside the Flip CX5400, there is an Intel Core i7-1160G7 processor, with Tiger Laker UP4 architecture and four cores with up to 2.1 GHz. Accompanying the CPU is Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics and 16 GB of RAM.
In the promotional images, this Chromebook is offered together with Google Stadia and NVIDIA GeForce Now, being one of the few devices with Chrome OS that risks postulating itself as a device capable of playing games.
ASUS’ new Chromebook does not include a fan, so we’ll have to wait to see what impact offering an additional level of power without properly accompanying it might have on temperature and performance. The body of the device is made of aluminum with a weight of 1.4 kilograms.
On the battery we have 48 Whr, which promises up to 10 hours of autonomy, a good battery level considering its specifications.
The display chosen is a 14-inch FullHD touch panel with relatively small ‘NanoEdge’ borders (3.5 mm) and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The device is Stylus compatible and with the hinge, it can rotate up to 360º to transform into a tablet-like convertible.
For storage, there are 512 GB and two Thunderbolt ports, and a USB port. It also comes with WiFi 6 connectivity, an SD card reader, and a backlit keyboard. In terms of sound, the ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5400 comes with speakers signed by Harman Kardon.
Pricing and Availability of the Chromebook Flip CX5400
The new ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5400 is available for purchase at $1,049. This is a fairly competitive price level for offering 512 GB, 16 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. Chromebooks over a thousand dollars may seem to be in an exorbitant range, but at least the specs are up to par with what is expected in this price range.
