The European Image and Sound Association (EISA) has announced the winners of the best mobile phone award in 2020. OnePlus 8 Pro, Huawei P40 Pro, Oppo Find X2 Pro, Galaxy Z Flip, and the Sony Xperia 1 II were some of the phones highlighted. Among the segments evaluated are camera, multimedia, foldable mobile, and high-end smartphone.

The European institute gathers experts who vote for favorite devices to compose the ranking. The list was announced at IFA 2020, the technology fair in Berlin, Germany. 

Best Camera: Huawei P40 Pro

Huawei had already won the category last year with the P30 Pro. This year, Huawei’s successor P40 Pro kept the gold medal with the Chinese giant. The photo set includes the 50 MP sensor, followed by the telephoto lens 12 MP, ultra-wide 40 MP, and the 3D camera, responsible for the portrait mode, a famous feature that blurs the background of the image.

The Huawei P40 Pro uses Leica lenses, offers five-fold optical zoom, Octa PD autofocus, and real-time depth detection.

The phone’s datasheet is complete with 8 GB RAM, 256 GB storage, and Kirin 990 5G processor. Specifications also include IP68 certified against water and dust, 4,200 mAh battery with 40 W fast charging, and 27 W wireless charging.

The P40 line runs the Android system, but without Google technologies because of the crisis initiated by the United States government. The device can be purchased abroad for $900.

Best Folding Smartphone: Galaxy Z Flip

Galaxy Z Flip was voted the best in the folding category. The flip-shaped phone features a flexible 6.7-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution (2636 x 1080 pixels) and features adaptations to be customized when folded. The display can also serve as support with navigation tools.

The device’s datasheet has an octa-core processor of up to 2.9 Hz, 8 GB RAM, and 256 GB of storage. The rear camera features a wide and ultra-wide lens with two 12 MP sensors. The front camera records selfies of up to 10 MP. The Galaxy Z Flip is available for prices in the range of $1,145.

Best smartphone: OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus 8 Pro received the award for the best smartphone. The Chinese mobile phone features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 processor as well as 8 or 12 GB of RAM, along with 128 or 256 GB of storage. The operating system is OxygenOS, based on Android 10. Regarding the battery, the smartphone features a 4,510 mAh battery and 30 W wireless charging.

It also has a 6.78-inch display and a resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels. The AMOLED panel has a small hole in the screen to house the front camera which is in the upper left corner.

The OnePlus 8 Pro’s quadruple camera has a main and ultra-wide lens compatible with 48 MP photos, besides telephoto lens and color filter with 8 and 5 MP, respectively. The front camera has 16 MP. Among the features, the cameras offer are face detection and focus and portrait mode. The photographic set was the target of controversy for presenting a filter that allowed us to see through clothes.

The mobile phone highlighted by EISA can be purchased for $919.

Best Multimedia Phone: Sony Xperia 1 II

Described by EISA as a mobile phone for photography, film, and music enthusiasts, the Sony Xperia 1 II stands out as the best multimedia smartphone. The device features a 6.5-inch OLED screen, IP65 and IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The segment champion has a presentation on Sony’s official website divided according to interests, whether for photographers, filmmakers, and cinephiles, gamers, or users seeking good performance.

The phone is available for US$ 1,079.

Best High-end Smartphone: Oppo Find X2 Pro

OPPO FIND X2 AND X2 PRO

Oppo Find X2 Pro is the best high-end mobile phone and reserves some outstanding specifications. The 6.7″ screen features a 120 Hz refresh rate and an OLED panel. The Gorilla Glass 6 also marks presence to protect the panel and the display has a Quad HD+ resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels.

Like OnePlus 8 Pro, the processor used in Oppo Find X2 Pro is the Snapdragon 865. With 512 GB of data space and 8 GB of RAM, Oppo’s phone also features Android 10 and ColorOS 7.1 interface. The battery that comes with the phone is 4,260 mAh which can be recharged with fast 65 W charging that completes the charging in approximately 40 minutes, according to Oppo.

The wide and ultra-wide cameras have 48 MP sensors, while the telephoto camera has 13 MP. The camera for selfies has a 32 MP sensor. Among the features of the Oppo Find X2 Pro cameras are the night mode, digital zoom up to 60 times, supports for autofocus, professional mode, and image stabilization.

Among the additional features are the NFC, 5G, and fingerprint sensor integrated to the screen itself, the Oppo Find X2 Pro can be found for $1,066.
