Since yesterday all the news has been about HarmonyOS, the Huawei’s universal operating system, but the company has reiterated its commitment to Android and its own EMUI personalization layer. Today its the last update, EMUI 10, has been made official.

EMUI 10 focuses once more on performance, ensuring that performance will be maintained with a 6% reduction for three years, although other developments in its design are not wanting and of course the dark mode is featured in the new design.

Dark mode arrives

The dark mode is one of the newnesses of Android Q and will also be present in the EMUI 10 customization layer. The company has put the special commitment in ensuring that the dark mode is readable.

This dark mode does not apply only to system applications, but third-party applications also darken intelligently, trying in any case to maintain the readability and usability of the interface.

New design

EMUI 10 arrives with a redesign in its interface. At the moment we have not been able to see it too much, but it seems that the company is being inspired by the golden spiral for the design of the icons. The new color palette was invented by painter Giorgio Morandi. They also adopted rounded edges and an interface with the Navigation mainly in the lower part of the window, as it is in Samsung One UI.

This design includes a lot of white space, larger fonts and more simplified lines and is supported by new, more dynamic and smooth animations that are a bit reminiscent of iOS and are supported by gesture navigation.

Intelligence up on the lock screen

Unique modernity of the EMUI 10 is the use of artificial intelligence to analyze the content of the images shown on the home screen and place the text in a place where it does not cover the content. You can see an example of the result in the previous image.

Connectivity first

The support for many devices is one of the main strengths of HarmonyOS, but it also has its representation in EMUI, in the facet of interconnectivity with other devices in the Huawei ecosystem, such as its smart speaker or even drones.

This connectivity between the mobile and the PC is enhanced by wireless projection to a PC, which now allows you to drag files to the “virtual” screen of the mobile to copy files from the mobile to the PC and vice versa.

Car mode

Android has Android Auto and EMUI has its car mode, HiCar. After connecting to the car with the HiCar, you can then adjust the music or car navigation in real-time and even turn on the air conditioning in advance or join video calls.

New Always-On-Display Screen

In Huawei and Honor phones with OLED display, the AOD mode has new colorful images to choose and enhance the mobile when we are not using it, with various clock designs and decorations.

ARK compiler

Huawei is very proud of its new compiler, which ensures that it can significantly increase the smoothness of the system and avoid small downtime during use. It is a compiler capable of compiling Java, C and C ++ code and the company has decided to return to open source, just like the new HarmonyOS.
