Screen and Design

Galaxy A01

The two cell phones feature a drop-shaped notch to house the front camera and plastic finish. The displays have the exact HD+ resolution, but the dimensions are different. While the Galaxy A01 has 5.7 inches, the Galaxy A10S is 6.2 inches.

The larger panel model may be more suitable for those who like to watch videos on the phone, but the lower pixel density may make the text less readable. The Galaxy A01 has a lighter and more compact body. Both phones are available in black, blue, and red.

Cameras

galaxy A10s

The Galaxy A01 and Galaxy A10S feature a 13 Megapixels and 2MP dual camera, but the Galaxy A10S features an f/1.8 aperture, larger than the f/2.2 present in the Galaxy A01. The main benefit of this specification is the higher light input to the sensor, which tends to result in more accurate photos, especially at night. Also, to compensate for the lack of light, the A01 should keep the diaphragm open longer during clicking, increasing the risk of blurred photos.

Photos with portrait mode, on the other hand, should have the same blur accuracy due to the presence of the same depth sensor. On the front, the Galaxy A10S ought to have the advantage of offering an 8MP camera against the 5MP of the Galaxy A01. Again, the aperture is larger on the A10S: f/2 against f/2.2.

Performance and Storage

The phones have very similar internal components and should not have performance differences. Both are equipped with octa-core processors up to 2 GHz and 2 GB RAM, with enough specifications to handle the most basic day-to-day tasks such as email use, WhatsApp, and social networking in general, especially in “Lite” applications.

The same similarity is repeated in storage, which is 32 GB in both. Despite the support for microSD memory cards, users who use smartphones a lot should see the notification of “almost full space” a few months after the purchase if they store too many files on the smartphone.

Battery

Battery

The Galaxy A01 features a 3,000 mAh battery, smaller than the 4,000 mAh component present in the Galaxy A10S. The manufacturer does not provide estimates of autonomy for the devices. However, as the data sheets are similar, the A10S tends to offer more time away from the outlets.

Android version

Android 10

Android 10 is present on both phones. Google’s operating system came from the factory on the Galaxy A01 and was released this year for the Galaxy A10S. The user experience, therefore, should be the same on both. As it is more recent, the model launched in 2020 should take advantage in the future, as it has more chances to receive new updates, like Android 11.

Additional features

Only the Galaxy A10S features a fingerprint scanner positioned at the rear. In the case of the Galaxy A01, the user must stick to the traditional PIN or password to unlock it. Mobile phones also offer facial recognition, which is considered less secure because it does not use advanced sensors like those seen on the iPhone.

The phones’ technical specifications still have other common specifications, such as Bluetooth 4.2 and micro USB connector, and Wi-Fi only in the 2.4 GHz frequency. Neither of the two devices features NFC connectivity to pay for proximity. On the other hand, both bring a P2 port (3.5 mm) for headphones.

Price and Availability

Galaxy A01 was launched in April and is available for around $113 online retail. Galaxy A10S was presented in November last year and it is seen for prices starting from $129.
