Screen and Design

Galaxy Tab S6

The Galaxy Tab S6 features a 10.5-inch screen and Super AMOLED technology that promises to deliver vivid colors. The successor Galaxy Tab S7 has increased the size of the screen: the new tablet has increased to 11 inches, with LPTS LCD technology and a 120 Hz refresh rate – ensuring more fluid visual effects and animations. Both have Full HD+ resolution (2560 x 1600 pixels).

Both tablets have a frosted metal construction, which tends to be more resistant and more difficult to leave fingerprints. Both have a set of two cameras in the back below a kind of magnetic tape that holds the S Pen.

In Galaxy Tab S7 this tape has a darker tint than the rest of the device and the Samsung brand is lying down. While in the predecessor Galaxy Tab S6, the logo is in the vertical and center of the device. The Galaxy Tab S7 is available in black and bronze. The older version can only be found in a graphite finish.

The camera specifications are the same for both devices. At the rear of both is a 13 Megapixels main camera with f/2.0 aperture and an ultra-wide 5-megapixel (f/2.2) camera. They also record video at 4K at 30 frames per second.

For selfies, the devices have an 8 MP sensor and f/2.0 aperture that records video at 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Performance and Storage

Galaxy Tab S6

The Galaxy Tab S7 tends to perform at a higher rate thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 Plus processor. The chip is faster than the Snapdragon 855 in its predecessor.

The Galaxy Tab S6 has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Tab S7 combines 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal data space. In other words, it has become much more powerful. Both bring support for microSD cards up to 1 TB.

Battery

Galaxy Tab S7

The Galaxy Tab S6 features a 7,040 mAh component, while its successor comes out ahead due to the 8,000 mAh battery. Despite the difference, the manufacturer states that both devices have autonomy for up to 15 hours of video playback. Both tablets also support fast charging.

The Galaxy Tab S7 can be recharged using up to a 45 W charger sold separately, while the Galaxy Tab S6 is compatible with only a 15 W source.

Android Version and Additional Features

The Galaxy Tab S6 comes out of the factory with Android 9 (Pie), but it can be upgraded to Android 10, besides counting on the One UI 2.0 interface, owned by Samsung. Galaxy Tab S7 already comes with Android 10 installed and One UI 2.5.

As for the extra features, the two tablets feature fingerprints to unlock the device, and the one on the Galaxy Tab S6 is integrated into the screen itself. The Galaxy Tab S7’s biometrics are on the side of the device. Both have USB-C and Bluetooth 5.0 input. Also, they have support for the Samsung DeX, which can be used on the tablet itself to turn the device into a laptop.

The S Pen, present in both devices, has undergone improvements. In Galaxy Tab S7, it comes with the addition of more gestures and low latency to offer a faster response. Galaxy Tab S7 also brings the first Android version of the Clip Studio Paint application free for six months.

Galaxy Tab S6 was launched in August 2019 but it is already available in electronic commerce for values in the range of $625.

Galaxy Tab S7 arrived in September and it is currently available on the e-commerce store for $647.
