How to Know If Someone Have Access To Your Google Account

We are all afraid that our Google account will be stolen and passed into the hands of a hacker, but the worse thing is that they are spying on us and we are not aware of it. At some point, someone has been able to get your account name and password and keep an eye on everything you do without you noticing it. The intruder remains hidden and leaves no traces, which makes it quite difficult to detect with the naked eye.

However, there are ways to suspect that someone may be hacking into your Google Account as well as you. For example, you see that emails have been opened that you haven’t opened, transactions have been made with your account that you don’t remember, or you receive emails from services that you don’t know about. Here are some clues that you’re not the only one visiting the account.

Logically, you don’t have to wait or wait for this to happen, before it’s too late you can see if someone else is logging in. How? We will explain this to you below.

The first thing you need to do is log in to your Google Account and sign in. Just at the left of the screen, there is the “Security” section. Click on it. This will take you to a new screen where you will find the section you need to check who besides you are logging into your account.

Google Account

Scroll down and look for “Your Devices”. Under this section, you will see all devices that have recently logged into your account. Not only will you know the type of device, whether it is a computer, mobile or tablet, and the manufacturer, but also the country and time of access.

Your Devices

Click “Manage Devices” to view all the devices deployed in more detail. Here you can see more specific information, such as the first login, when was the last time you logged in, the IP address and the browsers used.

Manage Your Devices

If you find a device that isn’t yours, or a date you know for sure you didn’t use your Google Account, then there’s no question: someone else is logging into your account.

What to do if you detect someone has logged into your Google Account

If you see an unknown device logging into your Google Account, the first thing you need to do is close that device. To do this, click on Manage devices. As you already know, this section is located in Your devices area. Now go to “Don’t recognize a device?” Next, a message will appear on the screen warning you that your account will be protected by logging out of all devices, except the one you are currently using.

Secur your device

The system will also take you to change your password, another of the necessary steps to protect your account. When changing your password, avoid simple passwords where your pet’s name is present, the city where you live, your date of birth or personal data that someone could easily detect. It is best to mix letters and numbers alternately with upper and lower case letters. If you don’t know how to set it up, always use an online password generator, such as lastpass.com.

Activate two-steps Verification

Another one of our recommendations to avoid future evils is to activate the verification in two steps, which will add a double layer of security to your account. To activate this option, simply go to the website that Google has enabled and click the “Get Started”.

Google 2-Step Verification

With two-step verification every time you sign in to your Google Account, you’ll need your password and a verification code, which you’ll receive on your mobile via SMS. Once inside the new screen click on “Get Started”.

Google 2-Step Verification

First of all, you will have to log in with your account, even if the account was already logged in before. This is an important step to prevent someone from configuring it on your computer carelessly if you are logged in, for example in a public place. On the next screen, you will need to enter your mobile phone number and select whether you want to receive the verification code via text message or via a phone call. Click on “next”.

Google Account Login

A new screen will be displayed for you to enter the code that just came to your phone. Enter it and click “Next” again.

If you’ve typed the code correctly, you’ll see a new on-screen message telling you that it worked well and whether you now want to enable two-step verification. If so, click “Activate”.

Password Alert

For greater security, and if you use Google Chrome as your default browser, you are interested in having this extension installed. Basically, with Password Alert, you’ll automatically receive alerts whenever your Google password is used to sign in to non-Google websites. The extension will also detect malicious websites before the password is entered to prevent it from falling into the hands of hackers.

Once you’ve installed the extension, it will automatically start working the next time you enter your Google password into any company service. It is necessary to bear in mind that this extension does not register your password at any time, as we say, detects the functioning of potentially malicious pages to warn you if you have entered your password on that website. This way, if you fall prey to one of these scams, you will know immediately that your password may have been exposed, being able to change it directly from the links shown by the extension.
