1.33 kilos and 3K screen

Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021

The new Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021 has a polished metal body 14.6 millimeters thick and weighs 1.33 kilos, so in principle, it should not be complicated to transport. One striking thing is that the laptop has no USB-A ports, but only two USB Type-C ports and a 3.5-millimeter connector for headphones and microphone. However, a hub with HDMI, USB-C, VGA, and USB 2.0 is included in the box.

Spread throughout the chassis are four speakers and two microphones with AEC (to improve voice quality in video calls). As expected, Huawei has implemented a fingerprint sensor on the power button and the camera on the keyboard itself. That way, the webcam will be hidden at all times until the user deploys it manually.

As far as the display is concerned, the Huawei MateBook X Pro mounts a 13.9-inch 10-point touch LTPS panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 3K resolution (3,000 x 2,000 pixels), which translates to 260 pixels per inch. According to Huawei, the display occupies 91% of the front, has a maximum brightness of 450 nits, 178º field of view, and reproduces 100% of the sRGB color gamut.

A firm commitment to Intel

Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021

Under the hood of the Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021, there are 16 GB of 4,266 MHz LPDDR4x RAM, 512 GB or 1 TB of NVMe PCIe SSD storage, and 11th generation Intel Core processors (the i5 and i7, to be exact). The graphics card, of course, is the Intel iris Xe. Intel and Intel only, no option for AMD processors.

All of this is brought to life by Windows 10 Home, which comes garnished with some of Huawei’s functions, such as Huawei Share (multiscreen collaboration with Huawei mobiles) and a screen capture system using gestures, and a 56 Wh battery. According to Huawei, this is enough to provide up to 10 hours of local video playback. The charger is 65W.
