Huawei presents the new MatePad 10.4 New Edition, a 10.4-inch tablet with WiFi 6 connectivity and an ultra-thin design designed as a practical and useful device for consuming videos and content.

In August 2020, the MatePad 10.4 arrived with very similar features. However, Huawei has decided to update it to incorporate the new Kirin 820 chipset, renew the software and make it more competitive without increasing its price. These are its features.

The MatePad 10.4 arrives with a 10.4-inch panel with 2K resolution in 16:9.6 format. In total there is a 2,000 x 1,200 pixel IPS display that delivers a pixel density of 225 PPI and promises a typical brightness of 470 nits. The company additionally adds technologies such as Huawei ClariVu, which promises to optimize color and sharpness depending on the content being viewed, and is TÃœV Rheinland certified for its low blue light emissions.

With a screen ratio of 84% and bezels of 7.9 millimeters, the MatePad is a tablet that falls into the category of compact and lightweight devices for its size.

Inside, the Kirin 820 processor is incorporated along with 4 GB of RAM and storage that ranges from 64 to 128GB and can be expanded via microSD cards.

With this chipset manufactured in 7 nanometers and a Mali-G57 GPU, the MatePad should be sufficient for the vast majority of Android tools and games. In terms of connectivity, as a novelty, there is Wi-Fi 6 with a maximum download speed of up to 2,400 Mbps. The battery has a 7,250mAh battery along with fast charging of 22.5W through the USB-C port.

In the photographic section, there is an 8-megapixel camera both for taking photos and on the front for video calls.

A highlight of this tablet is in the sound, with four speakers certified by Harman Kardon and complemented by Huawei Histen 6.1 that supports 3D spatial sound.

On the software side, the MatePad 10.4 New Edition arrives alongside EMUI 10.1 and AOSP 10. It has access to its App Gallery app store and includes options such as ‘App Multiplier’ for tabbed viewing of the same app or page, ‘MeeTime’ as an HD video calling service and the ‘Cross-Device Photo Gallery’ feature for sharing photos in the cloud. The tablet supports an electronic pencil, but it is not included.
