After the storm comes the calm; It has not been the case with Huawei. After the riff-raff with Donald Trump’s government, the Chinese company has come out more than airy which is supposed to become one of the largest commercial blockades in the past century. A few minutes ago they presented the financial results of the first half of 2019, revealing both the level of smartphone sales and the gross profit from sales.

Almost 120 Million Smartphones Sold in 2019

This has been confirmed by Huawei at its press conference. Specifically, the company has distributed (not sold) a whopping 118 million smartphones during the first half of the year, representing a 24% increase over the figures poured during the first half of 2018. If we pay attention to the gross profit obtained, the number amounts to 401.3 billion yuan or 52 billion euros.

The figures, of course, represent a decrease in the growth of phone sales of 21% compared to last year. Recall that during this same period the company managed to grow up to 45% compared to 2017, so to a certain extent the commercial blockade by the Trump administration towards the Chinese company has been noted. If we compare the financial data with that of 2018, these represent a 23.2% benefit, which coincidentally corresponds to 24% of the increase in sales of mobile phones and smartphones.

This strongest blow took place during the last weeks of June both from the government and criticism of the media has affected the commercial level, so it will be necessary to see if this decline in the growth of its mobile department affects the second half of 2019.

As for the rest of the company’s departments, Huawei has announced an increase of 18 and 50% in the sales of tablets and wearables. The company has also ensured that more than 150,000 5G stations and 50 contracts have been deployed to install the aforementioned network technology in as many territories. It would be necessary to see if part of the contracts agreed with certain countries include territories located in the United States, although everything points to yes.
