Nest Audio is Google’s smart speaker, launched this year. The Bluetooth device is integrated with Google Assistant and allows voice commands to control devices and get information about weather, calendar, and traffic, for example. The model is another rival for Amazon’s Echo 4 and is seen in the national retail market for prices starting at $59.99.
Google’s smart speaker can be a good option for those who want a smart control at home. If you have a Nest Mini, the entry-level version of the product, you can also opt for the model because it is possible to group them together to create a stereo audio system. 1. Google Assistant integration
In addition to functioning as a wireless audio speaker, Nest Audio is integrated with Google Assistant, which is one of its main differentiators. The smart speaker allows the user to control the music playing, turn on and off smart lights that are integrated into the system, and check weather and traffic information, for example.
The configuration of the Google Assistant and the connection of other smart devices can be done through the Google Home application, available for download in the Android and iPhone (iOS) application stores. Through the app, it is possible to program the voice assistant to perform day-to-day actions with compatible devices, which can be useful for saving time.

Nest Audio is the main competitor to Amazon’s 4th generation Echo in the market. Although both speakers achieve the functional purpose, which is to serve as a smart assistant within the home, Google’s equipment is a step behind when it comes to audio.
While the Nest Audio model features a set with a 75mm woofer and a 19mm tweeter, the rival model delivers a structure with a 76.2mm woofer and two 20.3mm tweeters. With this, it is possible to highlight that the Google model presents a profile that compromises with the bass, but the sound power may be limited when compared to its main competitor.
Another negative point is that the audio output of the speaker is directional, thus limiting its placement in the room. Although there is a promise that the sound is able to fill the entire room, it is necessary to install the equipment at strategic points for a good experience.
2. Lack of portability
Nest Audio does not have an internal battery and this factor compromises its portability, as an electrical power source is required for its operation. The use of the device is therefore limited to the home or business environment.
The purpose of the accessory, however, is for it to serve as a control center that can provide day-to-day assistance, and is naturally a device for use at a fixed point. If the user needs to move the Nest Audio from room to room, however, it will need to be turned off in order to perform the installation in another environment. If it had a charging component, its mobility might be easier.
