Moto G40 Fusion and G60: Features, Reviews, and Prices

With Motorola’s new naming this year, the phones have been united in the Moto G series playing with numbers to pull the intuitive “the more, the better”. In this case, after having known the Moto G100, smaller numbers arrive that indicate that this time they fit in the mid-range: the new Moto G40 Fusion and Moto G60.

These are two mobiles practically the same between them, basing the main differences in the cameras. The G60, which would be the big brother, has a 108-megapixel main sensor in line with the Moto Edge+ but remaining in the mid-range and thus being more affordable, while the Moto G40 Fusion is left with 64 megapixels for the camera.

Moto G40 Fusion

They are cloned mobiles in design and dimensions as well as specifications, so much of what we say for the G40 Fusion will be valid for the G60. We see that the DNA of the previous Moto mobiles has been retained in terms of shapes and aesthetics, although playing with two different colors for the back and module.

The logo is the location of the fingerprint reader, without fitting into the screen (it is IPS) or on the side as a power button. The edges are curved but both back and screen are flat, seeing minijack 3.5 mm and USB Type-C.

Speaking of the screen, it is a 6.8-inch panel and FullHD+ resolution, with the incentive that reaches a 120 Hz refresh rate. The front camera peeks out with a notch in the central part and we see the usual chin on the frame.

In terms of performance, for these mobiles, we opt for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 723G. But there are differences in memories: the G40 Fusion starts from 4 GB of RAM, with a base version of 64 GB of storage (expandable to 1 TB by microSD).

The battery is one of its strong points, with 6,000 mAh (which makes it weigh 225 grams). It has 20 watts of fast charging and features FM radio, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.0.

64 is also the number of megapixels we see in the main camera, as we saw in the introduction. There are three rear cameras (with the depth sensor), leaving the photographic scheme as follows:

  • 64-megapixel main sensor (1.14 µm pixels) with Quad Pixel technology and f/1.7 aperture lens.
  • Wide-angle/macro camera with 8-megapixel sensor (1.12 µm pixels) with f/2.2 aperture lens and 118-degree field of view.
  • 2-megapixel depth sensor (1.75 µm pixels) with f/2.4 aperture lens.
  • Front camera with a 16-megapixel sensor (and Quad Pixel) and f/2.2 aperture lens.

Moto G60

We could do a “copy + paste” with the first part of the Moto G40 Fusion for the Moto G60 because, as we have commented, they share screen, dimensions, and designs. We see here also that screen that with 120 Hz is competitive with that of other rivals that also opt for a FullHD+ IPS, in this case of 6.8 inches.

The Snapdragon 732G in this case goes with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of ROM and is also powered by that large 6,000 mAh battery. It also incorporates a 3.5 mm jack, NFC, FM radio, and fingerprint reader on the back.

In the cameras is the main difference, seeing, in this case, the following distribution:

  • 108-megapixel main sensor (2.1 µm pixels) with Quad Pixel technology and f/1.9 aperture lens.
  • Wide-angle/macro camera with 8-megapixel sensor (1.12 µm pixels) with f/2.2 aperture lens and 118-degree field of view.
  • 2-megapixel depth sensor (1.75 µm pixels) with f/2.4 aperture lens.
  • Front camera with a 32-megapixel sensor (and Quad Pixel) and f/2.2 aperture lens.
