Screen and Design

g8 Power

When it comes to design, mobile phones are very similar. Both have a more modern and spacious appearance, with no notch, and thin edges. The Moto G8 Power camera is housed inside the screen on the top left, while the Redmi Note 9S has a centralized hole at the top of the display. The fingerprint reader is located next to the power button on the side of the Xiaomi smartphone and the back of the Motorola phone.

The Moto G8 Power has a 6.4″ screen and an IPS LCD panel. The resolution is Full HD+ (2300 x 1080 pixels) with a density of 397 PPI. The Redmi Note 9S has a 6.67″ screen and Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels). The panel is also IPS LCD and the density is 395 PPI. The mobile phone also has Gorilla Glass 5 protection against falls and scratches. Regarding telephony, both support the nano-SIM.

Camera

The Moto G8 Power has a quad-camera consisting of a 16 Megapixels main sensor and f/1.7 aperture. Also, it features an ultra-wide 8 MP lens and f/2.2 aperture, an 8 MP depth camera, and an f/2.2 aperture, which offers 2x zoom. Another highlight of the photo set is the 2 MP macro lens and f/2.2 aperture, which is capable of shooting subjects at short distances. The front camera is 16 MP and features a technology that combines pixels to optimize brightness.

The Redmi Note 9S also has a quad-camera arranged in a square at the back of the smartphone. The camera consists of a 48 MP main sensor and f/1.8 aperture, an ultra-wide 8 MP lens and f/2.2 aperture, a 5 MP macro lens, and f/2.4 aperture, as well as a 2 MP depth sensor and f/2.4 aperture. The front camera also registers selfies of up to 16 MP.

Concerning the video, both are capable of recording at 4K (2160p) at a speed of 30 frames per second. However, only Redmi Note 9S features slow motion, which reaches 960 frames per second. The Motorola phone has an intermediate specification card marked by the Snapdragon 665 processor up to 2.0 GHz and 4 GB RAM. The Xiaomi model features specifications closer to advanced handsets, such as the Snapdragon 720G up to 2.3 GHz, Qualcomm’s dedicated game processor, and 4GB or 6GB RAM.

The Moto G8 Power features 64GB of storage while Redmi Note 9S is available in 64GB and 128GB versions. Both have microSD memory card expansion capability.

The most powerful common point between mobile phones is the battery. Xiaomi has a 5,020 mAh component, which according to the company, is capable of keeping the smartphone away from the outlets for up to two days. The smartphone has a fast 18W charge through the USB-C port, but no wireless charging. Motorola, in turn, has invested in a 5,000 mAh battery that also lasts up to two days. The G8 Power Moto has a 15 W fast charge.

Android version and additional features

The two phones leave the factory with Android 10, Google’s latest mobile system for Android phones. Redmi Note 9S also has a system integrated with the MIUI 11 interface.

Both feature Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and fingerprint sensors. Neither has NFC technology. The Redmi Note 9S also features FM Radio, a P2 port (3.5 mm) for the headset, and Wi-Fi in 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac tracks. The Moto G8 Power has speakers with stereo audio and Wi-Fi in 802.11 b/g/n tracks.

The Moto G8 Power arrived in March and can currently be found for $184.99 in black and blue. The Redmi Note 9S was announced in April for $210. The Chinese phone is available in gray, blue, and white.
