The Galaxy M31 is Samsung’s new mid-range phone. It has a monster battery of 6,000 mAh, 20% higher than the predecessor Galaxy M30 and the same offered by Asus ROG Phone 2, considered the most powerful Android of 2019. The smartphone also features Android 10 and a quad-camera with a primary 64 MP sensor.
The launch was announced on the 25th of February, 2020 in India and will start to be sold in the Asian country from March 5 for 15,999 rupees in the 64 GB version and 16,999 rupees with 128 GB of internal space.
The phone has already been approved by Anatel, but the possible prices and date of arrival in the national market haven’t been revealed yet. Last year’s model is available in Brazilian stores for about R$ 850.
The high capacity battery allows working during day and night. The manufacturer mentions an estimated duration of up to 26 hours in video playback. However, the charging speed may be disappointing, as the 15 W charger has not changed.
The cameras feature a similar layout to the recently released Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71: 64 MP main sensor, 8 MP ultra-wide lens for more wide-angle shots, 5 MP macro for capturing objects very closely, and 5 MP sensor to assist in Portrait Mode. The front camera has doubled in resolution to 32 MP, just like this year’s Galaxy A-line.
The processor has also improved, as the Exynos 9611 of up to 2.3 GHz promises superior performance and greater power savings than the chip of the previous generation, which reached only 1.8 GHz. The release also brings more RAM, which goes from 4 GB to 6 GB.

The Super AMOLED screen retains 6.4 inches and Full HD+ resolution, plus the drop-shaped notch that houses the selfies camera. The design hardly changes from its predecessor, except for the small 17g increase in weight and 0.4mm in thickness, both resulting from the larger battery.
