The Aurora 7 is a Laptop with 7 Folding Screens

When ASUS presented the Zephyrus Duo, we realized that it could be useful to have two screens on a laptop, but this falls short compared to the crazy prototype that Expanscape has come up with. The brand takes the multi-screen idea further, to the point of having created Aurora 7, a laptop with 7 screens.

As we shall now see, this is a laptop (perhaps a bit of an understatement) that incorporates seven screens and is a dream for those who find it more comfortable to work with several monitors and have to connect them externally. Especially since the components are also high-end.

Yes, it’s a laptop

Who is the Aurora 7 for? Obviously, for those who need to be surrounded by information in a large part of their field of vision and are comfortable using multiple windows. The use models proposed by Expanscape are content creators or developers, but it also fits profiles such as traders or, why not, editors.

The idea of the Aurora 7, although it may not seem like it, is that it is a portable workstation. The seven panels fold in on themselves to form a 4.3-inch laptop, although it weighs about 12 kilograms.

As we can see from the specs, there are four 17.3-inch 4K displays, two positioned vertically and two horizontally. The other three are 7 inches, with 1,900 x 1,200 resolution, all at 60 Hz.

There are two versions of Aurora 7, the initial one (with Intel i9 9900K) and the one being developed with an AMD alternative, although with this processor there are certain RAM and storage limitations. The curious thing is that, given the configuration of this computer, the limiting factor for choosing graphics is not the price, size, or compatibility, but the power supply.

Opting for one processor or another on the M3, therefore, will determine the storage and RAM maximums. Up to 128 GB of RAM in the M3 with Intel, which will be 64 GB for the base Aurora 7 or the M3 with AMD.

Another strength of this machine is storage, with multiple slots and drives available, reaching up to 8 TB in the case of the Aurora 7 M3 with Intel (6 TB with AMD). RAID is also available and in the case of the M3, the brand specifies that the M.2 slots are Samsung 970 EVO Plus units that will be 980 when available.

In the specifications, the company explains that the NVIDIA RTX 2070 was the one that fits depending on the power supply of the notebook. At least in the first prototype, we see that there are two batteries: one for the computer and one for the displays. The 148Wh battery provides, according to Expanscape, up to 2 hours and 20 minutes of use to the monitors, so it is almost better not to rely on the battery life to stay long without a plug (by the way, it has two power outlets).

The Aurora 7 is a prototype that has not yet been released, so the price is not known. What we see are prototypes in development with 3D printed parts, so we will have to wait to see when it goes on sale, although those interested can already reserve theirs.
