WhatsApp was the most downloaded app in the world in the month of September, accounting for nearly 68 million downloads from the App Store and Play Store. The countries that downloaded the app the most were India and Indonesia, together totaling 43% of the total. In the second position of the list, it appears TikTok, first in the ranking in the month of August, with more than 60 million installations on Android and iPhone (iOS). Next, are Messenger, Facebook, and Instagram, which maintained the same rankings of the previous month.
The data were released by the consulting firm Sensor Tower, which specializes in research on application activities, with statistics compiled between September 1 and 30, 2019. The survey accounts for only single installations on each device and does not consider games or applications pre-installed on Google and Apple systems. Variants of famous services, such as Facebook Lite and TikTok Lite, are added to the main app as a single number.
