Screen and design

Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro

The differences between the devices begin with a slight distinction in size, as the Xiaomi 12 uses a 6.2-inch screen, while Apple is banking on the iPhone 13 Pro’s 6.1-inch display. There is also a brief change between the resolution of the panels, which indicates 2400 x 1080 pixels on the first model and 2532 x 1170 pixels on the second.

Still in the sense of differences, one can point out that Xiaomi opts for the AMOLED panel, while Apple keeps the OLED one. In practice, the Chinese giant’s product can confer greater energy efficiency, as well as a track-free display in images.

In common, the phones feature a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The specification in question allows the display to ensure greater fluidity in image transition, a factor that can optimize the experience with games and movies, for example.

As for the structure, one of the first points that distinguish the phones is the design. The Xiaomi 12 brings a screen without interferences, only with a hole to allocate the selfie camera. The iPhone 13 Pro, on the other hand, keeps the notch from previous generations and therefore has a smaller screen utilization.

If Xiaomi’s model stands out for its use of space, Apple draws attention to the elaborate construction of the product. The apple company provides protection against water and splashes through IP68 certification, as well as greater resistance to drops and scratches through Ceramic Shield protection.

The Xiaomi 12, on the other hand, lacks water resistance but is coated with Gorilla Glass Victus, a material that can reinforce the phone’s protection in the event of accidents.

The Xiaomi model is available in blue and black. The iPhone 13 Pro is available in five colors: green, silver, gold, blue, and graphite.

Xiaomi and iPhone cameras

iPhone 13 Pro

The cameras on the iPhone 13 Pro and Xiaomi 12 have the same number of sensors, meaning that three lenses are available on each phone for taking photos and videos. In both, they are distributed between main, ultra-wide, and telephoto.

In the case of the iPhone, all sensors have 12 megapixels, although the functions and focal lengths vary. The phone repeats the number of megapixels for the selfie camera.

Xiaomi 12

The Xiaomi 12, on the other hand, brings variations in the arrangement, with a 50 MP main camera, 13 MP ultra-wide, and a 5 MP telephoto lens that can also operate as a macro sensor.

Despite the sharp distinction in the photographic set, both promise to deliver records with significant quality. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that the amount of MP is also not necessarily a determining factor for the final result of the photographs.

The latest release from the Cupertino giant brought larger sensors than the previous generation, as well as the ability to make more accurate records even in low-light locations. As for the available features, it is possible to highlight the Cinema Mode, which allows you to adjust the focus during recordings – which in turn are made in 8K.

Xiaomi’s representative comes with optimized tools for night captures, such as Ultra Night Video, as well as improved autofocus. Like the competitor, it also takes 8K videos but differs in the extra ability to take pictures of nearby objects with rich detail.

Performance and Storage

The iPhone 13 Pro features the A15 Bionic chip, a processor released by the manufacturer itself, with two cores geared toward high performance and four for energy efficiency. In this way, the new component can deliver innovations in terms of artificial intelligence, but also battery utilization.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

The competitor of the iPhone 13 Pro includes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the datasheet, which makes the competition fierce. With the Qualcomm processor, the model has achieved the position of the fourth fastest phone in the world. No wonder, the chip takes the podium of processors used in Android since it was launched.

Thus, it is possible to state that the phones strengthen their specifications to confer the possibility to perform simultaneous tasks or even play heavier games. The RAM of Xiaomi’s phone brings 8 GB, the same figure estimated for the competitor. It is worth remembering that Apple’s number is an unofficial estimate because the manufacturer does not disclose the amount.

The company headed by Tim Cook bets on varied storage options: 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB or 1 TB to store apps, photos and videos. The Xiaomi 12 offers only the 256 GB version, which may sound like a disadvantage because of the lack of possibilities.

The battery of Apple and Xiaomi

Battery

The battery capacity of the Xiaomi 12 reserves 4,500 mAh, a figure that should be enough for one-day autonomy under moderate use. The number decreases compared to the previous generation, but it now has tools that seek to prolong the time away from the sockets. However, when it is necessary to recharge it, it will be possible to use an adapter with 67 W of power, a number capable of replenishing power in about 40 minutes, according to the brand.

As with the RAM, Apple also does not provide battery capacity figures. It is estimated to reach around 3,095 mAh. What is officially known is that the component promises to last up to 1.5 hours longer than the predecessor iPhone 12 Pro.

One of the highlights of the iPhone is MagSafe, a wireless charging system implemented by the manufacturer. Xiaomi also guarantees this wireless charging mode, this time with a maximum power of 55 W.

System Version

Android 12

The Xiaomi 12 leaves the factory with Android 12, one of the latest versions of Google’s system. The phone also runs the company’s MIUI interface to provide customization features, privacy, and other functionality that comes with the update.

It is worth mentioning that it is possible to expect support for future updates, such as Android 13, announced by the search giant later this month.

iOS 15.4

Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 Pro runs a completely different system, iOS 15. Geared towards Apple devices, the software in question has been working on improving privacy, as well as giving tools such as reading text allocated to images and acoustic isolation for microphones during video calls.

Additional Features

5G connectivity

Among the common features of the phones are support for NFC and the 5G network. Such forms of connectivity allow, respectively, making payments by proximity and internet up to 50 times faster than the 4G network.

The iPhone 13 Pro allows access to the device only via face unlock or password, while the Xiaomi performs the function via the fingerprint sensor attached to the screen itself.

Price and Availability

The premium phones arrived on different dates. While the iPhone 13 Pro has been available since October 2021, the Xiaomi 12 is only available from May 2022. Currently, the iPhone 13 Pro can be found for $1,250 on Amazon, while the Xiaomi 12, a newcomer, continues with the same value for which it landed, about $600.
