At the end of last year, Xiaomi presented the Redmi Watch, its first smartwatch. It did so by offering a simple device, sufficient for the most basic tasks and at a reduced price. It arrived in some countries just like Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite and today, the successor, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2 has been unveiled.
The device has been presented in China along with the new Redmi Note 11 and, for the moment, we do not know if it will arrive in the international market. It is to be expected that it will do so at some point like the rest of the brand’s watches, but for now, it cannot be confirmed. In any case, the device is official, so let’s get to know it better.

The changes are on the inside
In terms of aesthetics, there are not too many changes compared to the previous model. The smartwatch retains its square case and the right side button, which is now centered and not at the top. It has the same dimensions, although it is somewhat lighter. The changes, therefore, are on the inside.
The first thing that catches the eye is its screen, which is now not only AMOLED but increases in diagonal. If the Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite / Redmi Watch had a 1.4-inch LCD panel, the new watch mounts a 1.6-inch AMOLED panel with 320 x 360 pixels resolution. Needless to say, it is touch and color and it is worth noting that it has “Always On” mode.
In terms of sensors, the main novelty is the inclusion of a dedicated GPS chip to which GLONASS and Galileo are now added, allowing you to do sports without having to carry your cell phone with you. Otherwise, the sensors and presumably their accuracy has been improved. The device is still capable of monitoring heart rate, sleep, and blood oxygen level.
Finally, it is worth noting that the device is capable of monitoring 117 sports modes (and that some of them are automatically recognized), that it is water-resistant, and that its 230 mAh battery promises a battery life of around seven days. We will have to test it to find out for sure.
Pricing and Availability of the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2
The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2 has been presented in China and, for the moment, there is no news about its possible arrival in the international market. It is expected to arrive as Mi Watch 2 Lite, like its predecessor. In China, its price is 399 yuan, about €54 at the exchange rate, and it will be available in black, beige, and blue.
